STREET TRACKER GENERAL INFORMATION

Long before I started making Street Trackers an off-the-shelf bike class, retired flat trackers were converting their race bikes for street use. Since 1995 all I have done is to make all the body parts easy to get from one source. Of all the products I make, the Street Tracker is the most popular in the US, UK and Japan.

I selected the 650 Yamaha as the most logical host bike because zillions were made over a very long production cycle: they are cheap to buy, they're stone reliable and as a vertical twin, they were raced 'back then'.

When selecting a 650 for conversion, concentrate on Yamaha Standard models (wire wheels) and Special models (cast wheels) made from 1974 to 1980. These models have second generation frames and are the best for building ease, economy and aesthetics. Pre '74 models and post '81s can be converted with extra work and more money.
