These trademarked stud protectors are made of 9 ounce black awning canvas. Canvas is water permeable so melted snow will seep through the canvas and minimize rusty studs. Between the tire and canvas is a layer of thick felt. Yes, felt. This old-fashioned material prevents the studs from chewing through the canvas, turning your valuable Diapers into puppy tatters. Diapers have a nylon loop on one end - this you hook over a row of studs as you rotate the wheel. The other end has two hook-end bungee cords which run through the entire Diaper for strength. These you hook to the spokes. There's a WARNING here. Run the bungees under a set of spokes before hooking up to another pair of spokes further behind. This keeps the cords and hooks out of your brakes. Stud Diapers fit tires up to 21". Stud Diapers! Like that name? Kinda says it all in a crude way.
